Brooke, a fierce and fabulous woman who is local to us here on the Gold Coast and resides with her husband and two children.

A great customer and role model advocate of our LB brand, we were lucky enough to wrangle her into a photoshoot where we had some great fun and the opportunity to speak to the woman behind all of the incredible floral headpieces that we get to see through our closed FB group!

Where did you grow up and where do you live now?

I grew up in Sydney and on the NSW Central Coast. I was an exchange student for Year 12 in the US and I went to uni in Melbourne. Our family moved to the Gold Coast from the Northern Beaches of Sydney in September 2017.

What was your dream job growing up and is this what your doing now?

Storytelling and books have always been a passion for me, even as a child. I was always drawn to writing and had a strong interest in news and current affairs, so journalism was an obvious choice.

I was very lucky to score a cadetship in the 90s and I went on to work at media companies including AAP, News Corp and Channel 9. It's a huge privilege to be entrusted with the job of telling other people's stories and I try to use that position to make our community a better place. As every journalist will tell you - there's a novel inside waiting to come out one day (we’ll be waiting Brooke)

What is one of your most defining moments in life?

Becoming a mother and meeting my husband are obviously important, but one that shaped how I view life came from a very different source.

When I was a teenager I watched the movie Dead Poet's Society which introduced me to the concept of Carpe Diem or "Seize the Day". I was about the same age as the boys in the film, so the message resonated with me and has been a guiding force in how I live my life.

We're not here on this earth forever, each day is a gift and we have to enjoy and be grateful for the amazing opportunities the world has to offer.

What are three of your favourite things to do?

Travelling with my family, musical theatre and a long girly lunch. this area

Your favourite aspect of being in the Leina Broughton Conversations Group?

It's such a wonderful, supportive and safe environment which allows ladies who would not normally post selfies or pictures of themselves on their own social media to share. I love seeing how the love and support (ably assisted by the wonderful clothes, which make all of us feel fab) helps grow the confidence of many of the group's members. And sometimes it's just nice to get a positive affirmation or a fashion tip. I've also made some wonderful friends through the group, which is a lovely bonus.

Your “go to” LB piece?

Shelly is my favourite style, but at the moment I am loving Olivia in Peony. It looks amazing on its own with heels for work or a dressy function, but I've been wearing it a lot with a denim jacket and flat shoes for a more casual look.

What is your favourite quote?

"You're off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!" Dr. Seuss was a genius.

If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is the hardest question to answer. I adore music, so it's very hard to pick just one. Anyone who knows me well knows I'm obsessed with Fleetwood Mac - I even called my dog Stevie! It would have to be one of theirs, so I'll say 'Dreams' even though my favourite is 'Landslide' (which makes me cry, so don't need to play it every time I walk into a room).

& last but not least, your favourite quote?

"You're off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!"
